From Hope to Despair: The 14-Year-Old & the Ill-Fated Boat Accident in Greece

I (Mufti Abdul Wahab as an Islamic Scholar) am saddened by the recent tragic boat accident in Greece. Authorities are diligently investigating the identities of those aboard the ill-fated boat.

Today, I learned about a distressing incident involving a 14-year-old boy named Abuzar from Gujrat, who went missing in the accident. His parents, visibly distraught, sold their house to send him abroad illegally. It is disheartening to see such stories on the news, causing unnecessary distress.

We must question the motives behind such actions. Why expose a vulnerable minor to such danger in the pursuit of migration? Is it fair to burden a child with responsibilities beyond their years, leading to such a tragic end?

It's saddening that many victims, mostly from prosperous regions like central Punjab, chose this perilous path despite available opportunities. This highlights the desperation for a better future. I urge you to choose legal avenues and avoid risking your lives.

Let's pray for mercy during these challenging times. Ameen.
